I don’t know why the economy works, but I’m sure it isn’t because brillant people are managing it. My guess is that if you sum up all the absurd activities of management add{ing} the law of supply and demand to the mix you have pretty much described the whole theory of economics. Ninety percent of all the new business ventures fails. I see the world as a massively absurd endeavor, populated by people who struggle every minute to rationalize the silly things they do, throught the business day. It’s not the business world that brings out our idiocy, but it is the place where we notice it the most. In our personal lives we tolerate bizare behavior, it even seems normal, but at work we think everyone should be guided by logic and rationality. Any absurdity in a business setting stands out like a dead poo in a snowbank. If you realize that resistence to idiocy is futile, your tension will dissipate, and you can have a good laugh at expense of others. Indeed, I get at least two hundreds email messages a day, mostly from people who are complaining about their own idiot managers. This can be a very healthy book.

Promossa da Leandro Arpinati, podestà di Bologna e presidente della Figc. Uno dei sogni realizzati da Arpinati fu l’edificazione di un grande stadio a Bologna: iniziato nel 1925 e inaugurato il 29 maggio 1927, il “Littoriale” fu il primo stadio italiano sorto per iniziativa pubblica. Dal dopoguerra divenne il “Comunale” e gradualmente la città si espanse fino a comprendere la zona dello stadio, ben presto al centro di un’area residenziale affollata e trafficata. Si fece quindi largo la proposta di costruire un nuovo stadio, molto più capiente, in una zona più periferica: ma il progetto non andò mai in porto. Nel 1983 fu deciso che sarebbe stato intitolato alla memoria di Renato Dall’Ara nel giorno del ventennale della sua scomparsa. Più recentemente, lo stadio bolognese è stato invece profondamente rinnovato a livello architettonico: in occasione dei Mondiali di Italia ’90, infatti, è avvenuto un ampliamento della capienza (fino a 38.279 posti a sedere), oltre ad essere stato creato il rivestimento con le scale esterne. Infine, il 10 maggio 2009 la curva che da sempre ospita i sostenitori rossoblù è stata intitolata a Giacomo Bulgarelli, scomparso tre mesi prima. Il fiore all’occhiello dell’impianto bolognese è però il manto erboso. In un periodo in cui i campi di gioco sono al centro di mille polemiche per la loro scarsa praticabilità, il “Dall’Ara” ha sempre risposto all’appello, ospitando nel migliore dei modi le partite del Bologna FC 1909.
